stand the sight of (someone or something)
To tolerate, accept, or endure someone or something. (Most often used in a negative formation.) I don't know how you stand the sight of that horrible receptionist every day. He's just so mean and unpleasant! I can't stand the sight of my mother-in-law, but there are a few occasions each year where I can't avoid having to spend time with her. I absolutely cannot stand the sight of shellfish. Just being near it is enough to make me gag!
