释义	肆州北魏太平真君七年（446）置。治今山西忻州市西北，宣武帝时移治九原城（今忻州市）。辖境相当于今山西滹沱河、牧马河流域。北周大象元年（579）移治广武县（今代县西南）。隋开皇五年（585）改为代州。
