古代战车上披甲的战士。每车三人，左一人持弓，称车左或甲首；中一人驾车，称御；右一人持矛，称车右或参乘。《谷梁传·文公十四年》：“长毂五百乘。”范宁集解：“……长毂、兵车、四马曰乘，一乘甲士三人，步卒七十二人。”
