小中正魏、晋、南北朝时期负责评定士族内部品第的官员。各郡、国皆置。凡任职于京师、籍贯为本郡的士族，经郡、国大中正推举和司徒府通过后，即可兼任，罢免亦同。西晋时，佐郡、国大中正评品本郡士族，每月与大中正在上东门会议三次，评定和升降士族品第，负责依据本郡士族的家世及才能写出品、状，交大中正核实。其职掌、沿革详见“中正”。
