2. To instill a belief or adherence to a particular belief or idea in someone. Often used in passive constructions. Invested in or committed to something. I hope she's not wedded to the idea of going to that restaurant for her birthday—it's just too far away.

Fig. mentally attached to something; firmly committed to something. (Fig. on wed(ded) to someone.) The manager was wedded to the idea of getting new computers. The mayor was wedded to the new budget plan.
