释义	彭盖南清湖南永顺人。土家族。咸丰五年（1855）冬，与桑植李晖等在永顺、桑植两县交界泥湖塔、塔卧堡等处举事抗清，自称明珍王，率众攻陷永顺府城，旋即退出。后因兵败自缢，余部数百人退居深山，坚持斗争。
