this, too, shall/will passThese troubles are temporary; be patient and things will work out. This term originally was used in a very serious way about the fleeting nature of human life, words, and endeavors. It was so used in the biblical Apocrypha (ca. 100 b.c.), as well as later philosophical writings. The current cliché is a more lighthearted expression of forbearance. |
