A word of honor; esp. a promise given by a prisoner of war that in return for conditional freedom he will not try to escape. 誓言;约言;(尤指)战俘假释时所立不逃逸之誓言。 Release of a prisoner from jail before his sentence has expired, conditioned on his good behavior. 假释。 phrases break one's parole 违背誓言。 on parole (a)宣示后被释放。(b)【美】假释出狱。 (过去式: paroled; 过去完成式: paroled; 现在进行式: paroling) v.t.
