stick on

1. To be or become fastened or attached to someone or something. This putty sticks on your walls without leaving any marks or residue. I hate the way these little spiky things stick on your clothes!
2. To attach or fasten something onto someone or something else. In this usage, a noun or pronoun can be used between "stick" or "on." Would you mind sticking these posters on the walls of your school? He stuck on a badge with his name and rank so no one would question his authority to be there.
3. To add something to something else, especially something that is or seems ancillary or superfluous. I can't believe the stuck on a gratuity charge just because an extra person joined us a little later in the night. The boss keeps sticking extra requirements on our project. At this rate, it will never get done!

stuck on (someone or something)

1. Smitten with someone. Oh, he's been stuck on you for years—of course he'll be your date to the dance!
2. Fixated or focused on something, such as an idea, feeling, or belief. A: "Why is Adam mad at you?" B: "I think he's stuck on the fact that I made the track team and he didn't."
3. Unable to make progress past a certain point or level due to something that one is confused by, unable to do, etc. I'm stuck on this part of the instructions—can you explain it to me again? If you get stuck on any one question, just skip it and move on.

*stuck on someone or something

 
1. Lit. attached, as if by glue, to someone or something. (Typically: be ~; become ~; get ~.) The gum is stuck on me. How do I get it off? The gum is stuck on the floor.
2. Fig. in love with someone or something; entranced with someone or something. (*Typically: be ~; become ~; get ~.) Judy is really stuck on Jeff. She is stuck on herself.

1. Fig. to be locked into an idea, cause, or purpose. Mary is really stuck on the idea of going to France this spring. You've proposed a good plan, Jane, but you're stuck on it. We may have to make some changes.
3. Fig. to be confused by something, such as a puzzle or a task. (*Typically: be ~; become ~; get ~.) I'm stuck on this question about the tax rates.
