1. To offer support for or argue in favor of some idea, opinion, or point of view; to review or state the reasons why something should be done or should be the case. 2. To establish or present the reasons to press legal charges against someone or something. Often followed by "of (something)" or "against (someone)." In order for us to make out a case of corruption, we'll need more than just hearsay as evidence. The DA is making out a case against you, so you'd better lawyer up.
