idiomif/when you put your mind to itused in order to say that someone has the ability to achieve something if they decide to make an effort, especially when they do not often do this:David could do really well in maths if he puts his mind to it.I reckon I'll be O.K. on the swimming, running and even the shooting if I put my mind to it, but I'm not sure about the riding section of the competition.
