麦哲伦 (1480-1521)；葡萄牙航海及冒险家。从西班牙率五艘船的舰队及 270 名船员环绕地球，横跨大西洋及南美洲的南端(今麦哲伦海峡)，越过太平洋，但是在航行至菲律宾时，麦哲伦被当地原住民杀死。最后只剩一艘维多利亚(Victoria)号及18名船员安返西班牙。
