释义	荆山堰在今安徽怀远县南荆山、涂山间淮河上。南朝梁武帝天监十三年（514），据北魏降人王足建议筑，以便堰淮水灌寿阳。十五年四月筑成，长九里，下阔一百四十丈，上广四十五丈，高二十丈，深十九丈五尺。同年秋淮水暴涨冲毁。
