常识	沙城
释义	沙城又作砂城。即今河北怀来县治。隋开皇三年（583），突厥寇幽州，总管李崇率步骑三千拒之，士卒多死，遂保砂城，突厥围之，败没，即此。明景泰二年（1451）设沙城堡。清称沙城，属怀来县。1951年为怀来县治。
