inferior, rubbishy, useless. Derives from Australian similes such as 'as silly as a two bob watch'; explained by G.A. Wilkes in A Dictionary of Australian Colloquialisms, 1978, as the sum of money most often used in derogatory expressions of worth. A BOB is 'a shilling' in pre-decimal currency (5p for what it's worth, 5c in Australia). It compares with US TWO BIT and UK 'two penny' AUSTRALIA, 1944
