monkey wagon
dated A car at the very end of a freight train, typically providing living and sleeping quarters for conductors and crew. I always romanticized a life working on trains as a kid, traveling from city to city, eating and sleeping in the monkey wagon with my fellow crewmates. There was a restaurant in town that had an old monkey wagon parked next to the building where they had kids' birthday parties.
