I spoke out of turn
An acknowledgment that one has said something erroneous, foolish, or impudent at an inappropriate time, or that one has spoken without the authority to do so. Often used as an apology. I guess I spoke out of turn in the meeting because I got a dirty look from the chairman of the board. I spoke out of turn in class, and Mrs. Simon gave me detention.
