A movement whose supporters believe and/or promote the disproven claim that Barack Obama was born in Kenya, not the US, and therefore should have been ineligible to serve as US president, as per the requirements of the US Constitution. (Obama was actually born in Hawaii.) Opponents of birtherism have called it a racist reaction to Barack Obama's presidency.
