A film, TV show, or other media franchise that exists within the same fictional universe as an earlier installment in the series and features some of the same elements, but that is intended to reinvigorate or update the franchise by altering others, such as some of the actors or certain unpopular aspects (but not its continuity). A portmanteau of "reboot" and "sequel." Jurassic World can be seen as a requel to the '90s Jurassic Park movies.
