free up
1. To cause someone or something to become available or no longer devoted to a particular obligation. A noun or pronoun can be used between "free" and "up." Whew, having that meeting canceled frees up the rest of my afternoon. If you're going to watch the kids, then that frees me up to get some errands done.
2. To become available or no longer devoted to a particular obligation. My schedule is booked solid for the next few weeks, but I'll let you know if anything frees up.
